Works description
In view of developing EO techniques and methods for contributing to environmental
impact assessments, the work will consist in methodological developments, over various
European environmental contexts, including:
 | airborne hyperspectral surveys (simulation of future
space-borne missions), acquisition of conventional remote sensing archived data,
simultaneous spectro radiometric field campaigns; |
 | study of the environmental status of mine sites through GIS techniques measurements for
data calibration and interpretation, including targeted mapping and sampling of polluted
and contaminated areas; |
 | development of specific image processing for pollution detection and contamination
mapping; |
 | Geographic Information System (GIS) compilation of existing geoscientific and
environmental baseline data in collaboration with mine operators and environmental
agencies; |
 | GIS data integration, development of GIS tools, statistical methods and analytical tools
to aid understanding and modelling of the dynamics of pollution processes. |
This will enable the development of generic tools :
 | generation of an European scale spectral library of
contaminated areas;
|
 | creation of GIS and other products tailored to meet user community requirements and
provide decision-support tools;
|
 | simulation of hyperspectral satellite imaging for spaceborne global data coverage in the
future.
