All spectra collated during field campaign, laboratory analyses
and image analyses are gathered into a single spectral library. This MINEO-specific
spectral library will constitute a European scale spectral database for mining-related
contaminated areas. It is able to handle large amounts of spectra coming either from
laboratory analysis (soils, rocks, dumps, tailings, etc.), field spectroradiometry (soils,
outcrops, waste dumps, tailings ponds, etc.) as well as extracted from hyperspectral
images. MSL includes several spectra-related attached information, as shown on the figure
below.

MSL is a versatile spectra management tool with
functionality that facilitate the management, comparison, search and retrieve of spectra ,
according to spectral characteristics, type of surface feature or target investigated,
location, climatic conditions, etc.

Spectra can be directly displayed into the
image-processing software environment for immediate use in hyperspectral image processing
for environmental impact mapping.
Fed with more than 1500 spectra from the different
project test sites , MSL represents a powerful tool in mapping mining related
contamination and impact mapping at European scale.
